Domaine Kreydenweiss is located in Alsace in Andlau. The Kreydenweiss family has been cultivating vines in these lands since 1850 and today at the helm of the estate is Antoine, who with his wife Charlotte continues a centuries-old tradition of 13 generations. The vineyard extends into the hilly area of Andlau, with some plots also in Eichhoffen Mittelbergheim and Barr. The estate includes a remarkable variety of terroirs, with different soils and microclimates, which has allowed each variety to be grown in the most suitable place. The composition of the soils is a small mosaic made up of sandstone, granite, grey, blue or black schist and limestone. The vines can enjoy a sunny exposure facing south and south-east and are cultivated with the classic Alsatian varieties: Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Auxerrois, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir. The vineyard is considered as a real living organism within a larger natural ecosystem, which must be preserved in its integrity, trying to intervene as little as possible with human activity. From this concept was born the need to approach biodynamics and to embrace its vision to try to obtain healthy and genuine grapes, an essential prerequisite for making great terroir wines. This is how a range of wines is born that are a direct and precise expression of the particular characteristics of the place. Fermentations occur spontaneously with the use of only indigenous yeasts. Refinements take place on the yeasts, in order to naturally protect the wines and make them aromatically more complex and profound.
