The Dolcetto grape variety has a disputed origin between Piedmont, in particular Monferrato, and Liguria, where it is known as Ormeasco. The Dolcetto vine has small leaves and bunches with a typical elongated and winged shape. Its grapes are medium-sized, rich in bloom and have an intense black-bluish hue. Dolcetto is rather demanding in terms of exposure and cultivation terrain , has inconsistent productivity and reduced vigor.
