Daniele Parma is an independent winemaker who founded the Azienda Agricola La Ricolla in 2004 after gaining twenty years of experience in winemaking in the family business. The desire to make wine exclusively with his own grapes, grown personally while respecting the life cycles of the plant and the surrounding ecosystem, led Daniele to a path that gradually freed him from the typical approach to agriculture and winemaking in the early 1980s. The awareness that old vines give the best fruits and express the territory in the most authentic way pushed him first of all to search the Gulf of Tigullio for old abandoned vineyards and recover the historic varieties with the idea of remaking the traditional wines that he had known as a young man alongside his father and the farmers of the area. The company thus acquired 5 vineyards in 5 different municipalities, all historic in the area, including the splendid plot of Vermentino near the fourteenth-century basilica of the Fieschi in Cogorno; the Bianchetta Genovese di Prioria in Carasco and Verici; Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo from the Tolceto vineyard in the municipality of Né in Val Graveglia, which is the first vineyard, impervious and difficult to access, purchased and worked by Daniele. The turning point was 2017: from the comparison with great personalities such as Stefano Bellotti and Saverio Petrilli, he began to take his first steps in the world of biodynamics, finding an agricultural approach of awareness and a renewed interaction between man and nature, based on self-defense and balance, rather than intervention. For Daniele, it was the definitive awareness (and courage) that another wine is possible! This is how the other wines in the range were born, macerated on the skins, fermented in cement and refined in terracotta amphorae in which no more oenological additives or sulfur are used.
