L'archetipo is a company located in Castellaneta, at the foot of the Murgia barese, not far from Altamura. Founded by Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto, a farmer from birth, who later also became an agronomist. Already in the 80s he began the conversion of the company to organic farming, then moving on, in 2000, to biodynamic practices. After a few years he realized that there was still something that prevented the return to the archetypal situation of the soil, the ecosystem, and therefore also the vineyard. Inspired by the non-interventionist practices of Masanobu Fukuoka, in which the synergies between all the rings of the ecosystem are triggered, he moved on to synergistic agriculture, for which, among other things, plowing is no longer practiced. He embarked on this new adventure together with his wife Anna Maria and his four children: Carlo Nazareno, Domenico, Andrea and Maria Clelia. They cultivate 50 hectares of land, of which 30 are dedicated to vineyards. In these precise climatic conditions it is possible to enhance the value of the prized estate grapes without the use of synthetic chemicals, cultivating native vines such as Primitivo, Aglianico, Negroamaro, Fiano and Greco and rediscovering now forgotten vines such as Maresco, Marchione and Susumaniello. In the cellar, built entirely of tuff, the primary objective is to leave the taste, aroma and color of the fruit unchanged; fermentations occur exclusively by means of indigenous yeasts and there is no filtration. The result is synergistic and pure wines.
