Domaine du Coulet

The Domaine du Coulet is located in Cornas, in the Northern Rhône Valley, and is led by the talented winemaker Matthieu Barret, considered one of the greatest contemporary interpreters of Syrah. Born into a family of winemakers, Barret took over the domaine in the early 2000s, progressively transforming it into a benchmark for natural French wine.

The Domaine covers approximately 20 hectares of vineyards, all managed with certified organic and biodynamic agriculture, cultivated on granite soils and steep terraces that require entirely manual care. Barret's philosophy is based on a respectful and minimalist approach: spontaneous fermentations, exclusive use of indigenous yeasts, absence of synthetic chemicals, and minimal sulfur dioxide.

The wines of Domaine du Coulet are distinguished by their vibrant energy, purity, and finesse, with Syrahs that combine power and elegance, depth and freshness. In addition to the prestigious Cornas cuvées, Barret also produces more accessible labels under the “Petit Ours” line and other projects that maintain the artisanal and natural spirit characterizing his vision.
