Stella Del Filare
Luigi Picotti lives and cultivates his vineyards in Provezze, a hamlet of Provaglio d’Iseo, in the southern part of Franciacorta, at about 220 meters above sea level. Here, the landscape is characterized by gentle morainic hills, woods, and morning breezes that come from the nearby Lake Iseo, protected to the north by Mount Cognolo. This area has always been dedicated to viticulture, with deep, stony, silty-clay soils that tend to be reddish and contain a good presence of flint.
It is in this context that Stella dei Filari, the small agricultural venture founded by Luigi, was born. After a past in the underground music scene of Brooklyn, he chose to return to his roots to create an authentic, artisanal agricultural project, where each bottle tells his personal story, the territory, and a precise vision of wine.
The vineyards are divided into two distinct crus: the first, a true clos surrounded by a stone wall, hosts Pinot Noir, from which the Ancestrale and Franciacorta wines are produced; the other, closer to home, is dedicated to Chardonnay. Both plots are trained with unilateral Guyot, with a density of 4400 vines per hectare. The plants are cared for with methods that respect the environment and the seasons, without forcing.
Production is small, around 4000 bottles per year, but each label is the result of meticulous work, inspired by the desire to make vibrant, profound, territorial wines. Music remains in the background, like a guiding spirit, but today the melody expresses itself in the vineyard, among the rows, and in the cellar.
