Cabernet Franc is one of the oldest and most widespread red grape varieties in the world, originating from the Bordeaux region in France. Known for its elegance and distinct aromatic recognizability, it is the direct parent of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carménère.

In Italy, it has found its ideal terroir especially in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and Tuscany, but there are also fascinating interpretations in other areas. Cabernet Franc wines are distinguished by their typical aromas of red fruits, aromatic herbs, green pepper, and elegant vegetal notes, which make it immediately recognizable. On the palate, it is generally fresh, medium-bodied, with fine tannins and good aging potential.

Depending on the terroir and winemaking, Cabernet Franc can express itself in leaner and more drinkable versions, up to rich, complex, and long-lived interpretations, especially if aged in wood.
