Black Greek
Greco Nero is a black grape variety widespread in southern Italy; it seems to have been introduced into the Italian territory by the founders of Magna Graecia. In reality, the name Greco is used to refer to many varieties that ultimately do not have much in common. Greco Nero has always been highly appreciated and for this reason it is mainly cultivated in Calabria, in the provinces of Catanzaro, Locri and Crotone. It was once considered synonymous with Marcigliana, cultivated in the Catanzaro area.
