THE ROCK AFTER HAVING DIVIDED EVERYTHING LIVES IN THE WINE
Marko Tavčar is a small producer who courageously and stubbornly cultivates his own vines in the Carso, in Kreplje (etymology which in Slovenian means Stone), near Dutovilje, Slovenia. This particular and magical land, where agriculture and with it viticulture have always been lived and interpreted in the name of subsistence: being able to produce vegetables and fruit and, therefore, make wine from a difficult terrain, which is subject to very extreme atmospheric agents such as the Bora (the freezing wind from Russia) and the torrid summers, becomes almost a mission of worthy importance. His wines come from two white grape varieties, Vitovska and Malvasjia Istriana, and one red grape, Terrano; Tavcâr cultivates a total of 2 hectares located between Kreplje, Dutovlje and Gorjiansko, all cultivated with the utmost naturalness and respect for the environment and biodiversity. And the same commitment is lavished in the cellar, where there is the “natural” conclusion of the previous commitment. Marko has bright eyes and an iron soul, an exact transposition in his wines. Truly special.
