Alfonso Soranzo has been running the family business, located on the western side of the Euganean Hills, for almost 20 years. The vineyards are located on a hill, at 170 meters above sea level: here the territory is mainly limestone and marine sedimentary. Alfonso is an experimenter who has made respect for the land, naturalness and simplicity of approach, in the vineyard as in the cellar, his philosophy. In 2004 he began using homeopathic preparations, switching after a few years to “traditional” biodynamics. The system was built through a graft in the field, on wild rootstock: it was a complicated job, but Alfonso wanted to do it himself, without resorting to nursery grafts. For him, the “natural way” to viticulture is a radical choice, without ostentation, but decisive. Manual pruning, Guyot training system with double spur and hand harvesting. Alfonso personally conducts - and alone - all the activities, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Even in winemaking, the choice for naturalness is radical, and the wines that come from it are in fact frank and decisive. A stance in favor of a nature that must be safeguarded and protected, beyond the fashions of the moment, as an important heritage of our history and our tradition, of what the earth gives us and what we owe to the earth. Alfonso knows how to do this very well and a chat with him is enough to understand this deep sense of respect and gratitude towards the earth, this propensity for true and sincere things. This is what is captivating about Alfonso, and this is exactly what is found in his wines.
