Nando is located between the Italian and Slovenian Karst. Of the 5.5 hectares, 60% is in the Italian Collio, 40% in Pleviso, Brda, in the Primorska region. Here the Mediterranean climate gives its best, together with the particular conformation and composition of the soil, with the classic Slovenian 'ponka'. The vines are 9 to 40 years old and are grown in the traditional way, on terraces at 100-200 meters, with the local varieties of Ribolla, Tocai and the international Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vineyards are managed with non-certified organic agriculture, where the only treatments consist of copper and sulfur, spontaneous fermentations on indigenous yeasts and no chemical products in winemaking. The company is in the hands of Andrej Kristancic, who grew up in a family of winemakers, and has always carried out both the practical part of the family work and the course of studies that allowed him to expand his views, while always remaining faithful to the traditions of the place. Nando comes out on the market with two different lines. A blue label, which makes short macerations and steel, and a black label, with a more marked Slovenian style, with long macerations and fermentations in large exhausted wood. The latter are the classic Slovenian oranges.
