Terrano, also known as "Terrano del Carso " or "Terrano d'Istria", is an indigenous Julian grape variety belonging to the Refosco family.

The origin of the name is probably linked to the organoleptic characteristics of the wine that is obtained from the strong taste and intense color: the suffix "ter" in German indicates tar. It is considered a symbol of viticulture in the regions of the Carso.
