La Caneva di Giancarlo Botter is a family-run winery located in Ceggia, in the province of Venice. Founded in 1973 by Giancarlo Botter with the planting of the first vineyards in Cessalto, the company began making wine from grapes in 1974 and moved to its current location in Via Isonzo 408 in 1980. Giancarlo, a graduate of the ISISS Cerletti Enological School in Conegliano Veneto, began his first harvest at the age of 23, focusing on native vines such as Verduzzo Trevigiano, Raboso Veronese and Tai, as well as international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. Today, the company is managed by his son Tommaso Botter, a graduate of the 2007 winemaking school, who continues the family tradition by combining innovation and respect for the environment. The geographical position of Ceggia, between the Venetian Prealps and the sea, offers an ideal terroir for viticulture, characterized by fertile and mineral-rich soils. La Caneva di Giancarlo produces a range of artisanal wines, including sparkling and still wines, that reflect the biodiversity and traditions of the territory.
