Catherine after completing her studies undertook viticulture and oenology studies in Beaune and Dijon, doing an internship with Jean Louis Trepat. Several years later, after extensive business trips in France and abroad, Catherine's return to Alsace took place with Chapoutier in 2009, who was settling in Reichsfeld. This provided Catherine with invaluable experience, understanding the soil, climate, cellar conditions and also the chance to make friends with other vignerons.
In 2012 she purchased 1.3 hectares and began her career. In the early years she was assisted by Antoine Kreydenweiss and Lucas Rieffel. They offered advice and encouragement, with Lucas providing his cellar for Catherine to produce her wines until 2015. The estate is run organically, its original hectares certified in 2015. Catherine seeks diversity in the vineyard, cover crops are planted with the intention of absorbing nitrogen to nourish the soil. She currently owns 4 hectares, all located around the village of Reichsfeld, about 40 minutes southwest of Strasbourg. Her vineyards are steep and high at the base of the Vosges mountain range, bordered by forest at 350-400 meters above sea level. This microclimate guarantees freshness and acidity, the mountains protect the vines and allow for slow ripening. Spread across 10 plots, the vineyards are located a few kilometers from each other, mostly on sandstone soils (gréseux) that are quickly draining. He also has some plots in the Cru Schififferberg, the friable blue schist soil, a rarity in Alsace. Precise and balanced, these are wines that offer plenty of drinkability and joy, for now and for many years to come.
