Black Capuccio

Nerello Cappuccio, or Nerello Mantellato, owes its name to the rather bizarre shape of its leaves, which, like a cloak that wants to protect the most precious and beautiful part of it, seem to wrap around its bunches, which proudly challenge the mystical weather of Etna, as only the purest vines can do.

Although no documents have been found to confirm its exact origin, this vine most likely found its ancient location several hundred years ago in the Catania plain, then extended into the areas of Messina and pushed beyond the straits reaching the coasts of Calabria, only to then risk becoming completely extinct in recent decades.
