Perricone - also known as Perricone nero or Pignatello - is a native Sicilian red grape variety, used to produce DOC wines such as Marsala.
Particularly widespread in the 19th century during the pre-phylloxera period, today it is cultivated not in large quantities, in various areas of Sicily, in particular in the provinces of Trapani and Palermo and, to a lesser extent, also Agrigento and Messina.
