Pinella is a white grape variety and is today grown mainly in the Padua area (DOC Colli Euganei). The grape variety seems to have been identified for the first time in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where it has now almost disappeared. The origin of Pinella is very ancient and must be sought along the eastern shore of the Adriatic. Pinella produced on the island of Rab, in the Gulf of Quarnaro, was in fact very famous in Veneto in the 13th century.
