Zuffada House

Casa Zuffada was founded in Ruino, in the high hills of Oltrepò Pavese, where Francesco Cardinali transformed an abandoned farmhouse into an authentic and rigorous agricultural project. While recovering the land around the structure, Francesco rediscovered an ancient mixed vineyard of Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, and Croatina, long forgotten. This was the starting point of a rebirth.

Between 2013 and 2014, he planted new Pinot Noir rootstocks, choosing to cultivate them in a goblet system in a quincunx pattern, a rare and challenging geometry, developed in consultation with Salvo Foti. The vines, located at 600 meters, are organically farmed and treated only when necessary, with an extremely restrained agricultural approach.

In the cellar, everything proceeds with the same consistency: spontaneous fermentations, long aging in the bottle, and no dosage at disgorgement. This is how a unique wine is born, a 100% Pinot Noir Metodo Classico that combines clarity, freshness, and the mineral tension typical of the highest altitudes of Oltrepò.

Production is minimal, just over five thousand bottles, and it is precisely this artisanal dimension that makes Casa Zuffada one of the most interesting and pure realities in the area.
