Located in the southernmost part of the legendary Cotes D'Or, in the Maranges area, one of the newest appellations of origin in Burgundy. Jean Yves and Isabelle Vantey arrived here in 1998, now managing five hectares of vineyards and seven different appellations, including the most important crus of Maranges. Clearly a prime area for Pinot Noir, which occupies 80% of production, and the remainder for Chardonnay.
From the very beginning, the vines have not been treated with pesticides or herbicides, the soil is worked during the winter, the selection of the grapes is very careful during the summer.
The vinification is done in the traditional way, only in the basic Burgundy is a part of carbonic maceration done, to give more freshness to a simple and direct wine.
Spontaneous fermentations, few rackings, refinement in never new barriques (steel for the base), no clarification or filtration, only a little sulphur before bottling.
Pinot noir of great elegance and finesse, with good structure and smoothness, waiting to express themselves fully, which must be snatched as you taste them, those of the most important crus, from the Haute Cotes de Beaune to the Maranges Premier Cru, where the vine and the terroir express themselves in unison, accompanied by the season of that vintage and by the culture of the man who has expertly accompanied them to maturation.
