Massa Vecchia

Massa Vecchia was founded in the hills of Massa Marittima, in the upper Tuscan Maremma, in an area where nature still plays a central role. The project took shape in the 1980s thanks to Fabrizio Niccolaini, starting from a historic family vineyard and a clear idea: to produce wines that are a direct expression of the place, without forcing anything.

Over time, the winery grew but remained faithful to a profoundly artisanal approach. Today, Francesca leads the winery, continuing the work started by her parents with the same agricultural attention and productive sensitivity, supported by a small group that shares the same vision.

The vineyards cover about six hectares, including vineyards, olive groves, and cultivated fields. The varieties are those of Tuscan tradition, with Sangiovese at the center, along with Vermentino, Malvasia di Candia, Trebbiano, Alicante, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The soils vary between galestro, calcareous marl, and sedimentary soils, contributing to the complexity of the wines.

In the vineyard, minimal intervention is used, without synthetic chemicals, while in the cellar, fermentations are spontaneous, macerations are often prolonged, and aging takes place in old wood. The result is lively, frank, and territorial wines, from intense reds to orange wines, always guided by balance, depth, and surprisingly smooth drinkability.

Massa Vecchia tells the story of an authentic Maremma, made of respect, time, and consistency.
