Pfulben in Alsatian means “scarab head” and as is well known, it is a sacred and lucky animal: in ancient Egypt the scarab was a symbol of resurrection. The grapes are grown on mixed granite soil, gewurztraminer (60%) riesling (30%) & pinot gris (10%) macerated for 10 days in steel and then aged in a large old barrel, no added so2. A seductive Alsatian blend made with grapes from their Kaefferkopf Grand Cru. This still white wine is soft and juicy with notes of citrus as if warmed by the sun, apple jam and cinnamon and notes of ripe exotic fruits with hints of chamomile and lime: poetry.
