Domaine Guillemot-Michel

Domaine Guillemot-Michel is a small family estate located in the hamlet of Quintaine, in the heart of the Viré-Clessé appellation, one of the three crus of the Mâconnais. In 1982, Pierrette Michel and her husband Marc Guillemot took over the family property, bottling their first vintage in 1985 and progressively converting the vineyards to organic and then biodynamic viticulture, with certification since 1991. Since 2012, their daughter Sophie, alongside her husband Gautier, has been leading the estate, following the same path.

The 6.5 hectares of Chardonnay, with vines averaging 55 years old, are all located around the hamlet of Quintaine, on Jurassic limestone soils with an atypical character: the high density of summer thunderstorms typical of this relief accelerates the decarbonation of the limestone into silt, retaining humidity, preserving the natural acidity of the grapes, and feeding a unique microbiota that is directly reflected in the identity of the wines. The parcels face east and benefit from the thermal influence of the Saône.
