Cascina Roccalini
Cascina Roccalini is Paolo Veglio's personal project, founded in 2003 in the heart of Barbaresco, in the Roccalini area. After graduating as an oenologist, Paolo decided to vinify the family grapes, which until then had been delivered to Bruno Giacosa, a historic name in the region.
We are on the white calcareous marl typical of the Langhe, soils that give finesse, depth and longevity to Nebbiolo. The 9 hectares of vines, cultivated exclusively with Nebbiolo, are managed with respectful agriculture, without herbicides or invasive chemistry. In the cellar, the approach is consistent: slow and spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, traditional submerged-cap macerations that can last up to 60 days for Barbaresco, and long aging in large Slavonian oak barrels.
The result is elegant, precise, and deeply territorial wines. Barbaresco, which is released on the market only in the fourth year after the harvest following 24 months in wood, represents the most complete expression of the Roccalini cru, recognized since 2010 as an additional geographical mention. Alongside it, Langhe Nebbiolo maintains the same stylistic identity: complexity, tension, and authenticity.
A production of about 25,000 bottles per year, for wines that consistently and measuredly tell the story of the Langa del Barbaresco.
