In Italy its diffusion involves practically all regions, being one of the most widespread vines, in particular in the areas of Abruzzo, Emilia Romagna, Umbria and Tuscany. This diffusion has led to the birth of numerous clones from North to South.

Its wide diffusion is due to its ability to adapt to different types of terrain and climatic conditions, to its great productivity and to the characteristics of the wine. In fact, it is sufficiently neutral to be used in combination with other wines with a more marked personality, without overwhelming them even if used in high percentages.
