MEIGAMMA IN SARDINIAN MEANS NAP AFTER LUNCH, OUR PHILOSOPHY FOR RESPECTING THE NECESSARY TIME

Meigamma are Barbara and Giuseppe Pusceddu, winemakers in Villasimius (CA).
Their passion for the vineyard began in 2006 when, pursuing their natural passion for wine and the land, they decided to plant a typical Cannonau vineyard. Meigamma in Sardinian means “after-lunch nap”, the siesta: this word encapsulates their “slow” philosophy of life, which they draw inspiration from to produce wine, oil, honey and vegetables. From the very beginning they opted for a type of cultivation that respects the environment, without using pesticides and herbicides so as to bring out the true territory in the glass; they then maintain the same idea in the cellar, respecting the grapes, harvested entirely by hand, transforming them without the aid of selected yeasts, nor any clarifying or filtering and without the addition of sulphites until bottling. The extension of their vineyard currently is 1.1 hectares, cultivated with Cannonau, Carignano and Muristellu, their soil is sandy 600 meters from the sea. They have recently recovered two other ancient Sardinian vines, Nasco and Nuragus.
