Christian Tschida

In the Burgenland region, between Lake Neusiedl and the eastern slopes of the Austrian hills, Christian Tschida is today one of the most acclaimed names in the European artisanal wine scene. The son of an artist, heir to a four-generation family of winemakers, he chose to interpret tradition with a personal and radical style that has won over enthusiasts worldwide.

His vineyards, about 10 hectares mainly located in Ilmitz, are cultivated without chemicals and with extreme attention to biodiversity. The grapes range from local varieties such as Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, to Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and whites like Grüner Veltliner and Scheurebe.

In the cellar, Christian Tschida works with extreme delicacy: spontaneous fermentations, no fining or filtration, and minimal or no use of sulfur dioxide. The distinctive feature is his philosophy of the “gentle touch”, which translates into very long and soft pressings, slow aging in large barrels, and a non-interventionist approach that allows room for the purity of the fruit and the voice of the terroir.

Tschida's wines are recognized for their elegance, energy, and surprising drinkability, capable of combining depth and lightness. Bottles that have made his name synonymous with authenticity and high-level experimentation, making Burgenland one of the most followed regions by international enthusiasts.
