Le Strie's Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva is the winery's flagship wine, produced only in the best vintages from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown on the terraces of the Sassella subzone, between the municipalities of Castione Andevenno and Sondrio. It is here, on the dry-stone walls of the Rhaetian side, with sandy, acidic soils and an exposure that maximizes the alpine light, that Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo) reaches its most vertical and mineral expression.

Vinificazione |
Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Maceration on the skins with rack and return. After malolactic fermentation is complete, aging for approximately 3 years in large oak barrels, followed by 2 years of aging in the bottle. |

The nose is complex and layered: brandied cherry, withered violet, sweet spices, tobacco, alpine herbs, and a mineral undertone reminiscent of stone. |

In the mouth it is austere and vertical, with dense but integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a very long finish. |
