Rosso Verona IGT 2023 Tenuta la Cà
Rosso is Tenuta La Cà's answer to a question many rarely ask: what happens when Merlot grows on calcareous morainic hills overlooking Lake Garda, with low yields, organic viticulture, and is aged for a long time in large French and Slavonian oak barrels? Not the tannic structure of great Bordeaux Merlots, not the buttery roundness of certain international interpretations, but something more subtle and territorial: a red that bears the imprint of the morainic soils of Calmasino, with that mineral sapidity that runs through Tenuta La Cà's entire range and which here intertwines with the natural softness of the grape variety in an unusual and convincing way. Gravity vinification, without destemming, with some of the grapes not destemmed to naturally impart structure, and then the wine is entrusted to almost two years of slow maturation in large wood, not seeking power but depth and balance.

The nose is rich and well-defined: ripe red fruits, blackberry, plum, spicy notes of pepper and cinnamon, a touch of cocoa and leather emerging from the aging in large oak barrels. |
Gusto |
In the mouth, it is soft, savory, and harmonious: integrated and velvety tannins, a lively acidity that pleasantly surprises, with a long and persistent finish. |

Braised beef in red wine, hunter's style rabbit, tagliatelle with meat sauce, game, aged cheeses, quality Veronese cured meats. |
