Quintaine Viré-Clessé 2023 Domaine Guillemot-Michel
Domaine Guillemot-Michel's Viré-Clessé Quintaine is produced in the hamlet of Quintaine, between the villages of Viré and Clessé, from 6.5 hectares of 55-60-year-old Chardonnay vines cultivated biodynamically since 1991. The Quintaine terroir is geologically atypical compared to Burgundy: the Jurassic limestone here is heavily decarbonated into silt due to the high density of summer thunderstorms that characterize the local microclimate.
This silt retains moisture during the hot season, preserves the natural acidity of the grapes, and hosts a unique microbiota that leaves a precise and recognizable aromatic imprint. The parcels face east and benefit from the thermal influence of the Saône.
The 2023 vintage stands out for its beautiful intensity on the nose, with yellow fruit, grapefruit, and light floral touches, a more pronounced acidity compared to the previous vintage, and a precise and long finish.
