Madonna Dei Fiori - Romagna Albana DOCG 2024 Marta Valpiani
The Madonna dei Fiori by Marta Valpiani is made from old Albana vines, between 30 and 60 years old, located in the municipality of Terra del Sole. Albana is historically rooted in the Castrocaro and Terra del Sole area, although over the years it has often been replaced by international grape varieties. Here, however, it is brought back into focus, with a precise and distinctive vision.
The soils are predominantly calcareous, with very light clays and the presence of skeleton; they were probably once part of the Montone riverbed. This gives the wine a distinct minerality, depth, and aromatic breadth.
Madonna dei Fiori is not a traditional Albana in the most common sense of the term, but a personal and rigorous interpretation, without over-ripening on the vine and without maceration. It is a rich yet taut wine, which expresses the saltiness of the Castrocaro soils through a bright and sharp acidity, precise and vibrant. A luminous and territorial Albana, capable of combining character, elegance, and identity.

Gentle destemming, soft pressing and spontaneous fermentation in small vats with dedicated pied de cuve; aging in concrete on the lees until bottling in spring, with a portion from 2023 vinified and aged in 500 L tonneaux. |
