Bianco Verona IGT 2024 Tenuta la Cà
Bianco is the most considered offering in the Tenuta La Cà range: a wine that demands time and returns it in complexity. From the same morainic hills of Calmasino, on the same frank and calcareous soils that give the reds their savoriness, Pietro and Aldo Giambenini harvest Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio with deliberately low yields, between 50 and 70 quintals per hectare, then entrust them to a slow and patient maturation process: 18 months in a large French oak barrel. It's not the most obvious choice for these grape varieties in this territory, and that's probably the point. Tenuta La Cà's Bianco doesn't aim to be a fresh, immediate aperitif white: it wants to be something deeper, a wine that tells what happens when the raw material is allowed to breathe for a long time in large wood, without yielding to tannins but gaining structure, volume, and that subtle, controlled oxidation that distinguishes aging whites from simple young-drinking whites. Bottling in a waning moon in spring, consistent with the entire philosophy of the estate.
