Pierre Mango

Pierre’s winemaking career is relatively young, but his resume is impeccable. He moved from Paris to Beaune in 2018 to start at the famous and prestigious university. During his studies, he worked for Jean-Yves Bizot in Vosne Romanée before moving south to Mâcon, where he became a full-time employee of Philippe Valette. In the spring of 2019, Pierre was offered the opportunity to purchase a small 0.8-hectare plot of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the commune of Plottes in Macôn. He felt it was too early to start his own business, but the vineyard was exceptional (no chemicals, surrounded by forest and protected from neighbors) and his colleagues who were experts in the area – including Valette and Jouveaux – convinced him to seize the opportunity. The first vintage was 2019, and since then Pierre has supplemented his own holdings with small leased plots in the area, so much so that he now farms 2.5 hectares. Pierre's wines are free, but at the same time very serious and with enormous depth.
