Domaine Leflaive is one of the historic and most renowned wineries in Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy. The Leflaive family has owned vineyards for more than 4 centuries and it was in 1717 that Claude Leflaive settled in Puligny. But the real foundation of the current Domaine took place in 1920, when Joseph Leflaive decided to vinify and market the wines from the prestigious vineyards of the family that until then had been produced by negociants. With the help of Francois Virot he replanted the vines devastated by phylloxera, selecting the rootstocks that were best suited to the microclimate of the area. When Joseph died in 1953, his 4 children (Joseph, Jeanne, Anne and Vincent) took over the reins of the business, bringing the Domaine to high levels of excellence. Today the winery is managed entirely by Anne-Claude Leflaive, Vincent's daughter. The winery's philosophy has been based from the beginning on respect for the terroir, humility towards natural forces and a rigorous and constant search for excellence in wine production. The vineyard, which extends for 25 hectares, is managed according to the biodynamic method, which allows to preserve the true nature of the wines produced. The wines of the Domaine Leflaive winery are characterized by a clear minerality and great intensity and richness, they have a high aging potential, presenting greater complexity and finesse. Each expresses the characteristics of the terroir of origin and offers unique sensations.
