Claude de Nell
Domaine Clau de Nell is located in the Anjou appellation in the northwest of France in the southern Loire. The soil is typical of the Loire of Anjou, characterized by a friable tuffeau, a clayey, silty and calcareous soil (tufa) rich in red sandstone and silicon. It is here that Claude and Nell/ Pichard, young winemakers considered “rising stars” of French viticulture, cultivate Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Grolleau with love and skill. And if sometimes skill is not enough to guarantee the income necessary to pursue their dreams, life often shows us how providential it can be in certain causes and when the financial situation no longer allows the two enfant prodiges to produce wines, Anne-Claude Leflaive, the owner of the famous Domaine Leflaive in Burgundy, intervenes. Together with her husband Christian Jacques, she bought the domaine in 2008, rigorously following the principles of biodynamics from the very beginning. The company was entrusted to the winemaker Sylvain Potin, who has been with the company since 2009 and has a past as a sommelier, but above all a faithful heir to the teachings of Anne-Claude Leflaive.
