Rebula 2020 Klinec
Klinec's Rebula is born on the same ponca terraces as the Malvazija—same family, same territory, same philosophy—but it tells a different story. Ribolla Gialla is the indigenous grape par excellence of Goriška Brda: structural acidity, a floral and citrus aromatic profile, and a sharp minerality that the ponca soil amplifies to the point of making it almost salty. Aleks Klinec macerates it on the skins for about 14 days in concrete tanks—enough to extract color, fine tannin, and the complexity that white winemaking could not have provided—then ages it for 24 months in acacia barrels. Acacia is the traditional wood of Brda's peasant culture, porous and aromatically neutral, allowing oxygen exchange without interfering with the grape's character. No filtration, no fining. The result is a skin-contact white that has tension, verticality, and an almost balsamic minerality reminiscent of the wind-swept hills between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea.
