PG Rosa - Pinot Grigio Venezia Giulia IGT 2023 Ferlat
PG Rosa is Ferlat's copper-colored Pinot Grigio—not a conventional rosé, but a skin-contact white whose color and structure directly reflect its contact with the skins. Pinot Grigio grapes have copper-colored skins, and simply leaving them in contact with the must allows this hue to naturally transfer to the wine without manipulation. Moreno Ferlat divides the fermentation into three batches with different maceration durations—2, 4, and 7 days—which he then blends, thus building a layered complexity that no single maceration could achieve alone. Spontaneous fermentation in concrete with indigenous yeasts, malolactic fermentation avoided, aging on fine lees: the Ferlat signature applied to the most cultivated grape variety in Friuli, with a result that is unlike any conventional Pinot Grigio.

Vinificazione |
Destemming, crushing, and maceration on the skins in concrete tanks in three batches with different timings (2, 4, and 7 days). The partially fermented skins are separated and pressed with a vertical hydraulic press; the two parts are reunited to complete alcoholic fermentation. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete. Malolactic fermentation avoided to preserve freshness and vibrancy. Aging on fine lees. Bottling in March. |
Profumo |
The aroma clearly distinguishes delicate floral notes, yellow fruit, cherry and wild strawberry, and candy. |
Gusto |
On the palate, it is fresh, young, with an acidic and mineral vein that enhances its drinkability, yet at the same time enveloping, savory, and glyceric, with strong notes of fruit, including pomegranate. The maceration also allows for the extraction of naturally present tannins in the grape, which will give further complexity to the wine. |
Abbinamento |
Aperitif, seafood and land appetizers, sushi, cured meats, fresh and semi-aged cheeses, grilled fish, cold pasta, light spicy dishes. |
