Malvasia 2020 Klinec
The Klinec family has been producing wine in Medana, in the heart of Goriška Brda — the Slovenian Collio — since 1918, on steep marl terraces overlooking the Gulf of Trieste, less than 30 kilometers from the sea. Malvazija is the house's skin-contact white wine — a pure Istrian Malvasia, with all its rough and direct personality. The grapes are harvested by hand and left to macerate on the skins for a few days in concrete vats, then pressed and left to age in acacia barrels for 36 months, a long time that builds complexity, depth, and that calibrated oxidation which transforms Malvasia into something difficult to compare. No filtration, no fining: the wine that reaches the bottle is what the marl and time have created.
