Les Grands Champs Sancerre AOC 2023 Domaine Fouassier
Domaine Fouassier's Sancerre Les Grands Champs comes from one of the most deeply rooted families in Sancerre's history: the Fouassiers have been cultivating these hills since 1742, and Benoît and Paul represent the tenth generation.
The Grands Champs parcel rests on Sancerre's purest Kimmeridgian limestone, a soil made of shells and marine fossils compacted eons ago that imparts a delicacy and marine minerality to Sauvignon Blanc that is difficult to find elsewhere. The 25-35 year old vines, cultivated according to biodynamic principles, produce a wine of great finesse: citrusy, ethereal, taut, the sweetest and brightest version of Sancerre without ever losing its mineral grip.
