Flavino - Red Toscana IGT 2024 La Palazzetta
Flavino is the diminutive of Flavio, the founding father of La Palazzetta, and better than any label, it tells the story of the family relationship with which this winery in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, in the southeast of Montalcino, has been making wine since 1988. It is a pure Sangiovese from the estate's young vineyards, the same galestro hills that host the house's Brunello, at the foot of the Abbey of Sant'Antimo. Luca and Tea Fanti, who now manage the winery with their father Flavio, cultivate it using certified organic farming, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts and bacteria, and one year of aging divided between steel and used French oak tonneaux, deliberately chosen not to mask the fruit. The result is a fresh and direct Sangiovese, eminently drinkable, with that typical structure of the Montalcino area that is also perceptible in the younger versions.
