Tenuta Lenzini is a biodynamic winery located on the Lucca Hills, in the Gragnano area, and managed by the couple Benedetta Tronci and Michele Guarino. Their adventure began in 2007, when Benedetta inherited the family farm from her grandfather Franco Lenzini and began a process of conversion to biodynamic agriculture, with the aim of consistently pursuing a production philosophy in which "the impact of man becomes non-existent and where nature takes shape and substance". Tenuta Lenzini is made up of 22 hectares of land surrounding the manor house, with high-density vineyards arranged in an amphitheater that extend for a total of 13 hectares. This property has an ancient history that dates back to the 16th century, when it was owned by the Arnolfini couple, famous for being portrayed in the famous canvas by the painter Van Eyck. The varieties grown are mostly international, with Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernt Sauvignon in the lead, followed by Vermentino and Sauvignon. No fertilisers are used in the vineyard and, in line with the biodynamic approach, treatments are limited to copper and sulphur in very small quantities and vegetal preparations. In the cellar, fermentations occur spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, the use of sulphites is limited to what is strictly necessary and refinements take place in steel, cement or old barrels. The wines of Tenuta Lenzini are the result of a simple and clear equation that guides all production choices: grapes = wine. These are territorial and identity expressions, which in the intentions of Benedetta and Michele must be "easily readable", that is, clearly attributable to the peculiarities of the territory and the land. This approach is defined by the couple as “reasoned viticulture” or “emotional oenology” and translates into a production philosophy that aims to enhance the characteristics of the terroir instead of the style of the winemaker. Authenticity, truth and passion for nature are the key words that underlie a truly interesting production that is making a lot of noise, gaining important acclaim from critics and enthusiasts.
