There is a small village of almost heartbreaking beauty in the Vallée de la Marne, it is Romery. This place seems timeless. Everything has stopped. Including the way of doing things, slow and thoughtful. Well, it is no less Aurelien Lurquin, a small Champagne producer who lives in this little earthly paradise. In total there are three hectares of vineyards and they belonged to his grandparents. A generation has passed, that of Aurelien's parents who were not interested in the activity. But then he arrived, who after a series of experiences around Burgundy and the whole of France, has given new impetus to the family viticulture. The cellar, from the late 1800s, has remained the same, but the purchase of new machinery has allowed us to combine the best of tradition with the potential of modernity. In the vineyard, however, a protection of the ancient and the ancestral has remained. Nothing that is not a natural reference to what the vineyard itself requires. And the vineyards are nothing more than part of a larger landscape design between fruit trees and wild grass that blend in between the alternating rows. Aurelien belongs to a small collective of winemakers from Champagne, about fifteen young winemakers, the “Des Pieds et Des Vins”, united by the desire to do well even if only a little. And good also coincides with the need not to alter or to alter as little as possible their wines, respecting the vintages and the different territories of origin, and this is why, for example, all these small companies work without or with a very low addition of sulfur.
