Tavel Vaucrose 2021 L'Anglore
Tavel Vaucrose is a single-plot selection from L'Anglore, the winery of the Pfifferling family in Tavel — one of the most important names in natural Southern Rhône, one that redefined Tavel rosé from a summer wine to an age-worthy one. The Vaucrose plot is located on the fault line where the fossilized sea and the Rhône met millions of years ago: a unique soil, a combination of red earth (iron), Astian sand, Villafranchian galets, and Urgonian limestone, four different substrates that can be perceived in the glass as layers of minerality. Grenache, Cinsault, and Clairette are whole-bunch macerated and aged for 22 months in tronconic vats — an eternity for a rosé, a gesture of complete trust in the territory. No additives, only grapes.

Whole cluster maceration of Grenache, Cinsault, and Clairette. Spontaneous fermentation and 22 months aging in tronconic foudres. Bottling July 2023. |
Profumo |
The nose is complex and layered: ripe red fruit, garrigue herbs, flint, and tertiary notes developed during 22 months of aging. |
Gusto |
On the palate it is full, taut, and mineral: precise acidity, red wine structure, a long and savory finish. A rosé that demands to be paired with food, not just sipped. |
Abbinamento |
Herb-crusted lamb, light red meats, semi-matured cheeses, bouillabaisse, structured Provençal dishes. It can further evolve in the bottle. |
