Savennières Coulée de Serrant 2023 Clos de la Coulée de Serrant
The Savennières Coulée de Serrant 2023 is one of France's most extraordinary and unrepeatable white wines, born from a vineyard with almost nine hundred years of uninterrupted history. The Clos de la Coulée de Serrant is a denomination in its own right, a 7-hectare monopole that the Joly family rigorously and devotedly preserves, first planted by Cistercian monks in 1130 on steep slopes overlooking the Loire. A place that needs no comparisons: it belongs to a category of its own, and this wine is its purest expression.
The terroir is the true protagonist: red schist and quartz soils, deep and well-draining, capable of imparting to Chenin Blanc a sharp minerality and tension that few white wines in the world can match. The vines, some of which are over eighty years old, sink their roots into this ancient rock with extremely low yields, yielding grapes of rare concentration.
