It was a gesture of identity before it was a polemic. Friulano — as the grape is called today, and as everyone calls it except those with wine on their minds — grows on the same hills of \u003cstrong\u003eOslavia\u003c\/strong\u003e where Ribolla grows, on the same \u003cstrong\u003ePonka\u003c\/strong\u003e: the stratified clayey marl that deep down becomes as hard as rock and patiently releases minerals. But Friulano is a different grape: fleshier, more material, with a denser structure and an olfactory depth that, in Radikon's hands, becomes something difficult to compare to any other Italian white. Maceration for \u003cstrong\u003e3-4 months\u003c\/strong\u003e in truncated oak vats, four manual punch-downs per day to keep the skins submerged, then over three years in large barrels, then 18 months in the bottle. Approximately \u003cstrong\u003e7,000 bottles\u003c\/strong\u003e per vintage, no filtration, no sulfites, no fining. The wine is released six years after the harvest.
